Aptos Reading Group (Co-ed Challenging Chapters)

The group will consider both fiction and non-fiction works, depending on the interests of the members. Meets in the Aptos Library on the Fourth Monday of the month at 1 p.m.

This group is different from other LLL book groups (that leader Judy is in) because it yields deeper discussions such as those we had in college. This activity will increase brain growth.

We encourage both men and women to participate, since that adds to the richness of the discussion

We will choose titles (both fiction and non-fiction) that challenge us to think. These titles provide the best discussions. (The leader will have titles on display at the September Interest group sign-up meeting). Most often, these will be Man Booker, National Book Award, or Pulitzer Prize winners rather than light reads.

We will be choosing short or long books, since there is a provision for reading 600 [or more] page books over a two month period, thus reading 300 or so pages in a month. In this way, we won't need to eliminate the great, though long, books such as those of David McCulloch and Doris Kearns Goodwin (non-fiction) or Salman Rushdie and Rohinton Mistry (fiction).

There is room for more members in this group.
