The Sun Magazine

For more than forty years The Sun magazine has used essays, interviews, short stories, poems, quotations, and photography to evoke the splendor and heartache of being human. In an age of media conglomerates, The Sun remains an ad-free, independent, and reader-supported publication. Each issue celebrates life in a way that respects its complexity. Our challenges are presented in radically intimate and socially conscious writing.

Group members (limited to 8 members plus the discussion leader) read the current monthly issue of The Sun, which is available by subscription or at the public library (Santa Cruz central branch and at the Aptos branch) to share responses to poetry, short stories, and essays related to literature and how those viewpoints shaped, or were shaped by, life experiences.
