Visiting Not-for-Profit Organizations

Visiting Not-for-Profit Organizations interest group meets once a month to visit and learn about individual community-based organizations in Santa Cruz County.

As an example of what we do, we visited O'Neill’s Sea Odyssey in May, 2013.

Dan Haifley, Executive Director, told us about the O'Neill Sea Odyssey’s hands-on program to teach children about the ocean and to encourage them to protect our living sea. After his introduction, the children returned from their boat trip, and we observed how they reinforce the experiences they had on board. We even got to see the students continue their learning activities on ocean pollution, navigation, and microscopic ocean critters after their trip at sea.
