Puente Project

The Puente Project at Cabrillo College is working to increase the number of educationally underserved students who transfer to four-year colleges and earn their degrees. The organization provides students with academic, counseling and mentoring programs to help them build the skills necessary for success. Founded in 1981, the Puente Project has chapters in over 68 community colleges in California.
This interest group serves OLLI members who have become Puente mentors by providing opportunities to learn how to be an effective mentor. Mentors provide one student with an opportunity to get to know a college graduate. Mentors are recruited in September and October, the beginning of the academic year, and mentoring service extends throughout that year. We will meet periodically to share our experiences and discuss issues that may arise. OLLI Members interested in becoming a mentor in the future are welcome to join us and learn about mentoring. For more information please contact a group leader.

The group meets at Cabrillo College as needed. Contact a group leader for next meeting.
